Community Challenges
Community Challenges are defined by the Rain World Discord community. Some do not require posting videos, or do not require videos of the full run. The rules for these runs are similar to that of the standard speedruns, but different mods are allowed and No Randomized Cycle Duration is allowed for some challenges.

Downpour Challenges
Downpour Challenge categories require completing a set of 7 challenges in any order. These runs are only timed RTA, and not IGT. At the end of the list are individual challenges which do not have a category to themselves. These runs follow the same rules (except for timing) as the primary categories.

Rain World: Downpour Mods
I make little mods for fun.
Staminer
Staminer adds a stamina meter for Gourmand (and for starving or wounded scugs) and an overheat meter for Artificer. Also adds a 'sweating' effect as a visual cue for impending exhaustion.
Checkpointer
Checkpointer allows you to set a checkpoint and return to it on demand to make practicing movement a little less painful.
Input Log
Input Log displays a scrolling log of frame-by-frame input intended for use in learning movement tech.
Dull Teeth
Dull Teeth allows lizard bite lethality chance to be scaled by the lizard's current health. By default, the bite lethality chance drops to 50% of normal as the lizard's health drops to 0%, but this is fully customizable.
Expedite
Expedite allows you to always immediately skip the karma ladder animation on the sleep/death screen. While intended for Expedition, where the animation can never be skipped, it also functions in Story, where the animation is unskippable if a Passage has just been earned.
Super Visualizer
Super Visualizer is a debug tool. It displays select properties of creatures and objects as text as well as creature pathfinder destinations. Which information is displayed is customizable.
Stuck in a Cycle
Stuck in a Cycle is a debug tool which freezes the cycle timer. Press MAP while paused to toggle. Note that the shelter animation does not play while the cycle timer is frozen.
Zero Palette
Zero Palette is a debug tool which forces every room to use the same palette settings.
Rain World: Downpour - Speedrun Rules
Except where noted otherwise, all my speedruns follow these rules.
Settings
Mods:
- More Slugcats Expansion and Rain World Remix must be enabled.
- Expedition and Jolly Co-op can be enabled.
- Input Display can be enabled. High Performance must be enabled in its settings.
- Fast Roll Button can be enabled.
- Dress My Slugcat (DMS) can be enabled. DMS-based mods must be disabled (DMS can load their atlases regardless).
- Score Galore can be enabled. Show score in real time must be disabled in its settings.
- No other mods can be enabled.Options:
- Speedrun Validation must be enabled.Rain World Remix settings:
- Speedrun Timer must be enabled.
- Increased stun times, Pull spears from walls, Key items on passage, Monk extended breath, Monk extra light assistance, and No randomized cycle duration must be disabled.
- All Major Assists must be disabled or default.More Slugcats Expansion settings:
- Scavenger corpses have max karma and Lossless scavenger corpses must be disabled.
- Artificer explosion capacity must be default (10).
Timings
Timing:
- For Story runs, IGT and RTA both begin when the New Game or Delete Save buttons fill completely, and end when the Speedrun Timer freezes - usually on the final actionable screen.
- For multiple-challenge runs, there is no IGT. RTA begins when the Play button is triggered, and ends when the Game Over screen appears after completing the final challenge.
- For single-challenge runs, there is no RTA. IGT is what is shown on the Game Over screen after completing the challenge.Story timing:
- For Closure%, time ends when Artificer grabs the Chieftain's mask or corpse.
- For Old Friend%, time ends upon entering SL_AI after installing the Rarefaction Cell in MS_HEART.
- For Messenger%, time ends when the LttM-signed data pearl leaves Spearmaster's hand automatically in SI_A07.
- For Journey's End%, time ends when control of Slugcat is taken in OE_FINAL03.
- For any run that ends in the Depths, time ends upon entering the space below SB_L01.
100% Criteria
A 100% run must do all of the following:
- Earn The Dragon Slayer, The Friend, The Hunter, The Martyr, The Monk, The Nomad, The Outlaw, The Pilgrim, The Saint, The Survivor, and The Wanderer
- Earn The Chieftain (except as Artificer)
- Earn The Mother (only as Survivor, Hunter, or Gourmand)
- Earn The Scholar (except as Saint)
- Meet Five Pebbles (and show the green Neuron as Hunter)
- Meet Looks to the Moon (except as Artificer; deliver the green Neuron as Hunter)
- Gain neuron glow (aka enlightenment)
- Deliver a Neuron Fly to Looks to the Moon (only as Monk, Survivor, and Hunter)After completing all of the above:
- As Monk, Survivor, or Gourmand: finish in Outer Expanse
- As Hunter or Sofanthiel: ascend in the Depths
- As Artificer: ascend in the Depths or kill the Chieftain Scavenger
- As Rivulet: install the Rarefaction Cell in Moon's superstructure and return to her
- As Spearmaster: deliver the data pearl to Communications Array after Moon signs it
- As Saint: ascend in Rubicon
Rain World: Downpour - Region Tour
Starting from any shelter in a selected region, visit every room in that region.Settings - same as normal speedrun rules, with the following changes:
- No randomized cycle duration can be enabled.
- The Region Tour mod should be enabled.Rules:
- Any Slugcat and any region may be selected. Each combination of Slugcat and region consitutes a subcategory.
- The recording must begin with the START EXPEDITION button being filled.
- A room is "visited" once the camera enters that room.
- The new passage, The Tourist, will track progress towards room visitation.
- Shelter normally (non-starve) after visiting every room in the selected region to finish.Timing:
- Time ends upon successfully hibernating after having visited every room in the region.Exceptions - the following rooms do not have to be visited:
- Bitter Aerie unless playing Rivulet (everything in MS connected to GATE_SL_MS)
- The fully collapsed Precipice (everything in SL connected to GATE_UW_SL)
- The Depths (everything in SB connected to SB_E05 if SB_D06 didn't exist)
- Near Spearmaster's spawn (everything in SU connected to SU_CAVE01 if SU_C04 didn't exist)Notes:
- It is permissible to visit a room any number of times.
- It is permissible to hibernate (starve or not) any number of times.
- Rooms do not become "unvisited" upon death or quit-out - even during a starve cycle.
- Shelters attached to karma gate rooms count for only the region they are actually in.
Rain World: Downpour - Region Tour
Starting from any shelter in a selected region, visit every room in that region.Settings - same as normal speedrun rules, with the following changes:
- No randomized cycle duration can be enabled.
- Warp Mod should be enabled.Rules:
- Any Slugcat and any region may be selected. Each combination of Slugcat and region consitutes a subcategory.
- The recording must begin with the New Game or Delete Save circle being filled.
- After all scripted intro movement ends, Warp Mod must be used to warp to a shelter in the selected region.
- A room is "visited" once the camera enters that room.
- Shelter normally (non-starve) after visiting every room in the selected region to finish.Forbidden - the following is not allowed:
- Using the Warp Mod after the initial warp
- Using a Passage token
- Visiting an Echo on the first cycle
- Starving into an Echo on the second cycle
- Dying before hibernating once (non-starve)Timing:
- Time begins when the camera leaves the initial shelter.
- Time ends upon successfully hibernating after having visited every room in the region.Exceptions - the following rooms do not have to be visited:
- Bitter Aerie unless playing Rivulet (everything in MS connected to GATE_SL_MS)
- The fully collapsed Precipice (everything in SL connected to GATE_UW_SL)
